201002-w-springs-banffWinter is slowly (and I do mean slowly) ebbing away. The sun is beginning to warm certain areas, and I’m not as worried at catching frostbite in the mornings on my trek to work. You would think that traveling to a hot spring wouldn’t be an ideal vacay with the heat that’s sure to be hitting us soon. Well, you couldn’t be more wrong! A nice, mineral and vitamin laden hotspring, surrounding by the illustrious beauty of our planet Earth is just what the doctor prescribed to thoroughly relax and soothe you.

The best thing about it, is that you don’t have to travel thousands of miles overseas just to enjoy them. A lot of them are right here in the United States. Take the Banff Upper Hot Springs in Alberta, Canada for example. Sure, there’s a slightly pungent aroma when visiting the hot spring, but the awe-inspiring mountain tops and absolutely gorgeous foliage will totally make you forget about a slight smell. It’s no wonder why our neighbors to the north would want to keep this to themselves! Discovered in 1884, these soothing 98°F–104°F waters are loaded not only with sulphate but also with calcium, magnesium, sodium, and bicarbonate. When to Go? Year-round, but for fewer crowds and peak foliage visit in the morning during early fall.

I would love to visit one, one day. Be sure to check out all of your options.

Have you ever been to a hot spring?
